Firstly hello to everyone here on the board. Although a lifelong fan of the Alien films (comics,cards and anything else related) I'v only just discovered
the world of M41-A building that seems to exist. I always wanted to build one but didn't really no were to start. So here I am. HELLLLLO
Iv been doing my homework, taking notes and sourcing out parts. So far so good. Im going to build it around the TM M1A1 as
1. I play airsoft so its kinda two birds with one stone
2. Its mostly metal other than the lower receiver (im working on that
3. For a first build a deactivated/replica M1A1 is a little pricey (maybe next time)
Deactivated guns in general are pretty pricey here in the uk so even the 870 is not looking likely for this first build. . But i have found full metal parts for an airsoft version which will look spot on.
However i decided that if i was building it as a working airsoft gun, a pump shotgun wasnt really doing it for me as a replacement for a grenade launcher. Soooo...
The 870 parts will just be asthetic.
Im busy working on a system for, racking, loading and firing BB moscart shells that will be housed in the Spas cage (mmm gas powered 30 shot explosions). So far its looking promising.
Once I get the system fully figured out and assembled il post it up if people are interested.
But at the mo im stuck on the Spas cage. Obviously I cant build the PR without one, but also the launcher system is also on standby as i need the cage here to figure out final measurement and so on.
Deactivated Spas12's for £950 anyone? no, me neither.
I wouldn't mind getting stuck into scratch building one from sheet metal but i cant find any info anywhere. If im gonna put in the time and work, cutting and welding i want to make sure its spot on, dimensions and measurements wise. I found a few maunals and parts diagrams online but nothing really useful.
So I was hoping someone can help with either
1. A source for a good scaled replica (I hear the airsoft versions are naff) . I could get my measurements from it and also us it to build a second PR
2. Some kinda of blue print or the details for the cage
3. If anyone has a correct scale cage in their possession, wrap a sheet of paper round it and do a rubbing to create a template (or something like that) as i plan to make the cage from a piece of sheet metal.
I think Harlequin59 was after the same kind of thing, not sure if he had any luck, cant find the post at the mo
Anyway, thats enough jibbering from me.
Any ideas from anyone would be much appreciated.

I dont have those kind of skills but i do
like to take on a challenge and get the ole brain cells working and with the help of a few local tool wielding friends i think its possible. Matsuo's resin
GL's look amazing from what iv seen. I dont no of anyone else even producing them, let alone to that detail. So I think there will be one of his slung
under my Thompson until I can figure my way through a steel version (cause deep down we all want a full metal version dont we 
) That way at some point I can replace the resin with the metal on the airsoft PR and use the
resin for a second project later.
